LKISEvents: The SWAP Team's Stylish Mtl Swap Meet

This past weekend was the SWAP Team's Take off Your Clothes swap, in Montreal.  I was asked to come in and guest curate what clothes would be accepted into the swap and as soon as I walked in, I knew that this was a special event.

As you know from my post a few weeks ago (http://montreal.virginradio.ca/blog/Style/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10390495) I was asked to pose for the LookBook for the event as a Montreal Fashion Blogger.
Well, it was pretty neat to see myself on the big screen!

This org is a non-profit social enterprise run entirely by volunteers and they put on this giant clothing swap for charity.  People were lined up to get in and then we were put to work, sorting through garments and accessories that would be accepted into the SWAP.

Once admitted and given tickets for their donated clothing, swappers entered the clothing area to pick out pieces that they could get with their tickets.

I had 40-something tickets for all the clothes I donated!!! I picked out a few choice items... tune into my blog next week for more on my swapped additions to my closet at www.lkisstyle.com :)

It was great to see that this was an activity peeps were doing in groups...like shopping, but better (and way more fiscally and socially responsible!).

I was also asked along with a few folks to paint a few pieces of clothing that will be auctioned off on this cool new site called Trend Trunk. Trend Trunk let's you sell/swap your pre-loved clothes.

I got to work, painting jeans, cargo shorts and skirts...I was covered in paint and loving it!  Here are some of my creations:

I was floored with how cool everyone was, how into it the crowd seemed to be and how obviously great this event is.  Founded in 2007, The SWAP Team has formed chapters in Montreal, Boston, NYC, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Winnipeg, Northampton (MA) and Quebec City, and is always expanding...

See you at the next SWAP!
