LKISStyle: Wedding Season Style

It's that time again.
The big pretty envelopes have been arriving at your door and nuptual season has begun.
I love weddings. I do!  I am sucker for the romance, the decor and of course, the fashion.

I have a few weddings this summer and it got me thinking that there are some great tips that I can share with you for surviving the wedding circuit.

So firstly, what kind of wedding will you be attending?  A beachy one (like my friends T&B or B&L), a rustic one, or a traditional one (like the one I have tomorrow- yay R&R!)...

If it's a beachy one, keep in mind that high heels sink into sand!  You are better off sporting a cool wedge or a sweet flat.

At a rustic wedding, you may not want to wear long...sometimes it rains and dirt floors or fields mixed with rain is lethal for a full-length gown (mud soup)...not to mention the perils of wearing a maxi in a light colour!  I would go with a short and fun cocktail dress or cool short suit for this type of event.

For the more traditional weddings, well, we all know to abide by the dress code and then enjoy the event.

Some general wedding tips:

1. Always bring a shawl or a little jacket because you never know if the A/C will be blasting AND if it is a religious ceremony of some kind, it may be appropriate to cover your upper half.

2. NEVER wear white.  It just isn't appropriate.

3. And, show up on time!  Weddings are definitely one event where it is unfashionable to be late.

Check out this spoon wedding dress display I just saw in NYC...now that is a wedding style!

As for wedding beauty in your purse:
Eyelash glue if you are sporting false-eyelashes, a lipgloss for a quick touch up and blush, which adds instant energy to any complexion.  And, keep in mind that you will probably be in pictures (that is what happens at weddings!) so you may want to lay off products that add extra shine.

So what am I wearing to this wedding tomorrow?
A cute flouncy dress from Betsey Johnson!  For more on this outfit check out my blog post after the fact on www.lkisstyle.com.

Happy Wedding Season!
