Switched at Birth” star Katie Leclerc called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Monday to chat about playing the role of Daphne on the show and what fans will see on tonight’s season finale! The season finale of “Switched at Birth” airs tonight at 8/7c on ABC Family.

On Tonight’s Season Finale: “We have been building this Daphne and Chef Jeff storyline since the beginning and everything has sort of come to a head. In tonight’s finale episode we have a lot of explaining to do, the adults are very unhappy with my character Daphne. Also, Bay and Zarra go off on this crazy adventure and the finale outcome gets revealed. It is like the most jam packed episode. Chef and Daphne have a lot of explaining to do tonight,” Katie says.

On Her ‘Switched at Birth’ Role: On the show Katie plays Daphne, who is hearing impaired. “It’s definitely the hardest role I’ve ever played. Speaking American Sign Language and English and using an accent all at the same time was super challenging. But it’s really rewarding to sort of highlight the deaf community and show the deaf characters and that we’re all on a level playing field. The deaf world and the hearing world are so separate and I think ‘Switched at Birth’ is doing a great job trying to kind of bridge the gap and I’m really thrilled to be a part of it,” she tells us.

On The Concept of Being Switched at Birth: “It really raises a question like nature vs. nurture. For me, my family is my family, no matter what. I definitely have traits of theirs because I’ve spent so much time with them. So, it’s interesting to see what’s biological and what is life.”
