It would be easy to dismiss
Tyrese as just another pop pretty boy. Looking at his previous work as a model and VJ, it's hard not to classify him as a musician more concerned with commercial success than any real musical artistry. Listening to
2000 Watts, even the most cynical of R&B fans would have to admit that
Tyrese has real talent. Flanked by a series of heavyweight producers such as
Rodney Jerkins and
Jermaine Dupree,
Tyrese delivers a series of ballads and uptempo numbers that are bound to appeal to fans of BET and TRL, respectively. His first single, "I Like Them Girls" is a bouncing homage to women. Equally impressive is "There for Me (Baby)," a melodic ballad produced by
Babyface. After a relative successful debut album,
2000 Watts demonstrates that
Tyrese is a legitimate R&B talent with a lot more skills than a lot of people expected.
