Album Review

40 years after the breakup of the Rock 'N Roll Trio, the group's guitarist returns with a solo album augmented by a younger generation of musicians who cut their teeth on the trio's rockabilly records, including members of the Band, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Los Lobos, as well as the children of the late trio members Dorsey and Johnny Burnette, Billy and Rocky Burnette. The players re-create some of the trio's best songs, naturally including the much-imitated title tune, and introduce some newer ones in a similar style. Although he gets most of the guitar solos, Burlison is more a member of the ensemble than a showcased star, but that doesn't stop the album from being a rockabilly romp. An enhanced CD, the disc contains interviews with Burlison, memorabilia, and video footage of the recording sessions.
