Album Review

If a diverse anthology of banjo-driven folk music is what you're after, this is an excellent choice. Besides folkies like Eric Weissberg, Marshall Brickman, and Mike Seeger, it has contributions by a few unexpected names like Roger McGuinn (who offers a "Banjo Cantata"), David Lindley, hot country and rock sessionman Joe Maphis, and Mason Williams (Classical Gas). Selections by less celebrated names like Jim Helms and Dick Weissman round out the collection, the major strike against it being the near-total lack of source information in the liner notes, which don't give any of the original session dates.
