Album Review

This two-fer from Real Gone features a pair of out-of-print LPs by the Orlons, The Wah-Watusi and South Street. Originally issued in 1962 and 1963, respectively, these 24 tracks include the original hit versions of "The Wah-Watusi," "South Street," and "Let Me In." Also included are versions of "Gravy (For My Mashed Potatoes)" and "Mashed Potato Time," originally recorded by Dee Dee Sharpe for Cameo with the Orlons, who provided background vocals. The only drawback to this otherwise enjoyable reissue is the omission of the 1962 hit "Don't Hang Up," which was not on either of these original LPs from the group's deleted catalog on Cameo Records.
