Album Review

All of DJ Magic Mike's classic early productions (except for "Magic Mike Cutz the Record") appear on this 1993 Cheetah collection, including the furious scratching and Beastie Boys-sampling of "Drop the Bass," the rolling, laidback "Def and Direct," a rough-and-smooth East Coast cut called "Class Is in Session," and the sexed-up "Are You Ready." Mike's scratches, drum programming, and sample work are all excellent, though a bit restrained by the frequent raps. There is a bit of overlap with Foundations of Bass, but this is the more crucial collection.
